Jay W. Wilkinson

Jay W. Wilkinson was born in Tacoma and lived there until his family relocated to Portland, Oregon. Jay has an undergraduate degree in Economics from Colorado College and attended law school at the University of Utah School of Law in Salt Lake City, Utah. During law school, Jay assisted with the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, which investigates claims of innocence made by inmates after they have exhausted the appellate process. Also during law school, Jay was a court certified legal intern with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office in Bend, Oregon where he handled his first jury trial. After graduating law school, Jay worked for the Lewis County Prosecutor’s Office (in Chehalis, WA) before moving on to the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Office (in Port Orchard, WA). As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for nearly four years, Jay handled a variety of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor charges including DUI, Reckless Driving, Negligent Driving, and Domestic Violence Assaults. Jay also prosecuted numerous felony charges including Murder, Robbery, Burglary, Felony Traffic Crimes (i.e. Vehicular Assault, Injury Hit and Run, and Felony DUI), felony drug crimes, and complex embezzlement cases. Jay has extensive jury trial experience, including fourteen felony jury trials which lasted anywhere from two days to one month. Jay has prevailed at DUI jury trials involving BAC evidence, a BAC refusal, and drug DUIs that relied on evidence from a Drug Recognition Expert Officer (DRE). Jay’s prosecutor experience is an invaluable asset to have on your side. Outside the law, Jay enjoys outdoor adventure of all sorts including skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, and kayaking.
